100 Day Waste Reduction Challenge
To launch the ‘100 Day Waste Reduction Challenge’, Enventure organised a high profile launch on 26th February in Chester City Centre. The cold weather and wind didn’t put residents off coming to the launch. Hundreds of residents attended it, many of which watched one of the demonstrations on cooking with leftovers and making/mending clothes with sewing master classes. Residents also had the chance to take part in one of the games aimed at illustrating how much waste we throw away and how easy it is to reduce our waste. The roadshow was also supported by Dee FM Radio, which interviewed Dave Mooney, celebrity chef, Jody Sherratt of Cheshire West & Chester Council, and members of the public.
To ensure as many residents were able to find out about the challenge first hand, Enventure arranged a series of 30 roadshows which were held during March at various locations across the district at locations such as libraries, farmers markets, community and leisure centres, supermarkets, town centres, garden centres, and even the Chester Cheese Rolling annual event.
Tonnage data has shown that the 100 Day Waste Reduction Challenge achieved what it set out to do and encouraged households to successfully reduce their waste by 1kg each month.
"Enventure was responsible for all aspects of the roadshows including liaison with the various venues to hold the roadshows, storage and delivery of the roadshow exhibition trailer, provision of roadshow staff and organising various educational tools.
The launch day involved three cooking demonstrations by celebrity chef Dave Mooney and two mending and ‘making new from old’ sewing demonstrations. All equipment (including kitchen) and the marquee were arranged by Enventure.
The roadshows were also well organised and were spread evenly around the district, giving everyone the chance to attend an event and talk to one of the roadshow staff. Roadshows were held at large events and venues such as the Chester Cheese Rolling Event, various supermarkets and large garden centres, through to local libraries, farmers markets and community centres. Over 7,000 residents attended the roadshows.
Enventure also devised and built an interactive weighing game to enable residents to see how easy it was to reduce their waste by 1kg by reducing waste such as food waste, junk mail, paper and batteries.
We have also worked with Enventure on previous occasions, and have always found the staff to be professional, organised and knowledgeable. We would definitely recommend Enventure for undertaking engagement and promotional work".
