Climate Change
Today climate change is one of the most significant sustainability challenges facing us. You cannot help notice the increased media coverage, as Governments, Companies and the public are having to adapt to a climate constrained future as they realise we can no longer ignore climate change. Communicating the message has never been so important, and through providing a dedicated capability in this area, our inhouse design agency Red Squirrel Media can identify and offer clients the most effective communications vehicle to maximise the impact of your message to tackle the challenge posed by climate change.
We are dedicated to solving all your design and communications challenges, and are proud to be one of the first agencies involved in promoting climate change with Bradford Metropolitan Borough Council.

Budget Consultation
As a local authority you have a commitment to consult with the public and other stakeholders in order to inform your annual budget setting process. These consultations are undertaken to allow the public and other stakeholders to consider and rank the Council's priorities for increased investment in services.
In order to ensure the consultation process is systematic and iterative it is important to take into account previous consultation exercises that helped inform and develop previous Budget Setting processes. There are a number of lessons a Council can learn from these previous consultations as some methods are often more effective than others.
At Enventure we can help you decide which research methodology is the most appropriate; whether it be questionnaires to your Citizens' Panel, focus groups, web-based questionnaires or face to face surveys.
Community Involvement
Research is the cornerstone of any effective public consultation or community relations programme. Customer and stakeholder satisfaction is key to long term success. Ignoring the views of stakeholders or customers can be a costly mistake. By spending time listening to your stakeholders, you can be provided with valuable information from which action plans can be developed.
Stakeholder surveys typically assess:
- if customers expectations have been met?
- if customers would use your facility/services again?
- if they would recommend your service?
- how satisfied your customers are?
- what areas can be improved?
Our consultants focus on developing effective relationships with clients, working closely with them at all times to ensure all needs and aspirations are met. Not only does this guarantee more effective results using a wider pool of resources, but more importantly it helps to provide value for money to you, the client.
E-Consultation
E-consultation is the fastest growing methodology in market research today. This is due to a number of factors including speed and portability, reduction in resources such as time and materials and the ability to reach a greater target audience, all of which help to reduce research costs. In addition to this, analysis and reporting are automated so you have immediate access to those all-important results.
We use the latest SNAP technology to offer our clients online surveys. Online surveys can be used on their own, offering clients significant cost savings over traditional research techniques or in conjunction with other research methods, which offers respondents a choice of ways completing surveys and in turn maximising response rates.
Working in conjunction with our design agency Red Squirrel Media, we will help you deliver a survey that is both effective and aesthetically pleasing.
Quantitative Research
Quantitative research is the numbers game. It's about measurement and attaching numbers to your topic of research. It allows you to measure attitudes, satisfaction, commitment and a range of other useful data that can be tracked over time and used as part of a wider decision making and action planning process.
We offer a full array of quantitative techniques including:
- Face-to-Face Interviews
- Doorstep Interviews
- Telephone Interviews
- Postal Surveys
- Internet and Email Surveys

Qualitative Research

We offer a full array of qualitative techniques including:
- Depth Interviews
- Focus Groups

Staff Training
A little investment goes a long way. Ever thought about a tailored training programme to boost your recycling rate?
There are many ways in which a local authority can improve recycling rates, but it is often easy to forget about the resources you already have, namely your staff. By regularly educating your recycling operatives and support staff on the recycling services you provide and the importance of customer service, the more customer focussed they will become. As many of these staff are the people in direct contact with householders, they will be able to pass on their knowledge in the hope of encouraging householders to recycle more.
To help you do this Enventure offers a comprehensive programme of customer service training tailored to meet your needs whether it is Household Waste Recycling Centre staff, Collection crew staff or your frontline administration call centre staff.
Our tailored training programmes will:
- increase recycling knowledge
- improve customer focus
- improve teamwork and communication skills
- ensure all staff can inform the public of opportunities and best practice for recycling and waste reduction
- highlight the importance of the individuals job and environmental awareness
- identify the areas for improvement through group feedback
Communications Campaigns
Many local authorities are finding that environmental awareness campaigns specific to their city, district or county, are having a beneficial effect on people's recycling habits. Enventure can develop tailor made campaigns to meet the needs of the local authority and the community it serves. Our environmental awareness campaign service includes:
- developing the campaign strategy
- market research, monitoring and evaluation
- branding for the campaign
- design and production of leaflets, posters and promotional material using a variety of advertising media
- development of an interactive website
- campaign roadshow and launch
- public relations
If you would like more information on how we could help with an environmental awareness campaign for your local authority, or indeed any element of a campaign, please contact Enventure.
Monitoring and Evaluation
In order to ascertain the effectiveness of campaigns and to measure the changes in people’s views on waste issues, Enventure can undertake base-line, qualitative and quantitative research.
Areas of monitoring and evaluation include:
- developing a full monitoring & evaluation plan
- participation monitoring of various kerbside collections and home composting schemes
- benchmarking - analysis of current participation in recycling i.e. tonnage recycled at home, at recycling centres and awareness of waste issues
- attitudinal surveys to monitor the change in people’s recycling views and habits since the use of promotional aids
If you would like more information on how we could help with the monitoring and evaluation of your promotional work and introduction of new recycling schemes please contact Enventure.
Engaging with Residents
Face to face engagement with residents, also known as canvassing or doorstepping, is an effective way of promoting new or existing recycling schemes to the public. Research has shown that face-to-face contact with householders can be a highly effective way of increasing participation and reducing contamination in recycling services.

Education
Face to face engagement enables the educational and promotional message to be tailored to the individual through one-to-one contact. Canvassers can deal with the barriers that prevent householders from recycling - whether it is a lack of recycling containers or the necessary space to store them, misconceptions about the service, what happens to the materials collected or a lack of understanding about why we recycle. Canvassers provide vital contact between the waste and recycling department and the householder.
Collecting valuable data
In addition to promoting the recycling message and services on offer, face to face engagement also allows valuable data to be collected from householders. Tailored questionnaires or WRAP based questionnaires provide relevant information which can be used for future policy decision making, campaign development and service delivery.

Health and Social
Leeds Primary Care Trust - Working with staff to inform professional development
NHS Leeds wished to ensure that front line staff are equipped and supported to work effectively with families wanting to adopt healthier lifestyles, thus contributing to the delivery of the ‘Can’t Wait to be Healthy’ strategy in Leeds.
Enventure were commissioned to undertake research to scope front line staff’s experiences, perceptions and personal beliefs about obesity.
In-depth interviews were conducted with school nursing teams, practice nurses, members of health visiting teams and children’s centre staff.
The research findings will be used to inform the planning and delivery of professional development.
Tackling Obesity in Kirklees
The Kirklees Partnership, representing all the main partners’ organisations in Kirklees has identified obesity as a major health challenge for the area. An Obesity Programme Plan has been developed to ensure there is a coordinated set of actions in place to tackle obesity. The Plan recognises the partners must invest in social marketing approaches to ensure that local interventions reflect the needs of the target groups.
Kirklees PCT, on behalf of the Council and its partners, commissioned qualitative research to assist in the development of a marketing and communications strategy, focussing specifically on people living in Kirklees.
The research aim was to scope the behaviours and motivational issues related to weight management with the chosen target audience to inform current and future weight management provision in Kirklees.
Enventure conducted a programme of qualitative research to achieve the research objective, this included in depth interviews in respondents own homes and focus groups.
The research findings were used to inform the development of weight management provision in Kirklees and communication with the target audience, thus encouraging participation in appropriate weight management activity.
Evaluating the Impact of Brief Interventions Training into Alcohol Misuse
Safer Communities Bradford is delivering training to professionals to enable them to deliver effective brief interventions to patients/clients/customers/arrestees whose presenting health, social or behavioural problems are suspected to be related to misuse of alcohol. Enventure was appointed to evaluate the impact of the training.
The objectives of the evaluation were to:
- Ascertain whether there has been an increase in the level of brief interventions provided in the settings on completion of the staff training.
- Gain feedback from staff regarding the perceived value of the training, in terms of putting their training into practice.
- Gain feedback from a limited number of consenting recipients to evaluate the impact on their attitudes and behaviour.
Enventure is conducting both quantitative and qualitative research in the form of an e-survey and in-depth interviews. The evaluation findings will be used to ensure future training is conducted effectively.

Enventure RSS
News feed: http://www.enventure.co.uk/rss/feed.rss
What is RSS?
RSS allows you to identify the website content you like and have it delivered directly to you. It takes the hassle out of staying up-to-date, by showing you the very latest information that you are interested in.
To be precise RSS is a format for web based information that can be interpreted by an RSS reader so that selected sources of information can viewed from one place easily.
Not all websites currently provide RSS, but it is growing rapidly in popularity and many others, including the BBC, Guardian and CNN do provide it.
Why Use RSS?
If you use RSS technology it will greatly improve the speed and ease of gaining the information you want. It allows you to be kept well informed, without the need to wade through a sea of many different websites and pages.
How do I start using RSS feeds?
In general, the first thing you need is something called a news reader or feed aggregator. There are many different versions, some of which are accessed using a browser, and some of which are downloadable applications. All allow you to display and subscribe to the RSS feeds you want.
If you click on the button you can subscribe to the feed in various ways - by dragging the URL of the RSS feed into your news reader or by cutting and pasting the same URL into a new feed in your news reader.
How do I add Enventure news to my list of feeds?
Once you have chosen a news reader all you have to do is copy and paste, or drag the following link into your reader when prompted:
http://www.enventure.co.uk/rss/feed.rss
We will then keep you up to date with our news changes to services & competitions. This feed will be updated on a regular basis and will contain news and information about what we are doing and the services we provide.
Can Enventure build this functionality into my website?
Yes, we offer this as one of our web development services. Contact Red Squirrel Media for more information.
How do I get a News Reader?
There is a range of different news readers available and new versions are appearing all the time. A section of these appears below:
