The Project
- Enventure Research re-commissioned for the second time to undertake an online membership survey of Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) members
- Aimed to better understand its membership, the state of the profession and collect up to date insight, to continue to provide members with the best possible services, benefits and support
Research Methods
- Questionnaire designed by the RTPI and Enventure Research covering a number of topic areas, such as planning experience, employment, skills, Continuing Professional Development, value of membership, RTPI activities, future RTPI priorities (including Brexit) and communication preferences
- Survey hosted online and emailed to all members, followed by reminder emails to those who had not yet taken part
- Open survey link hosted on RTPI website, promoted via social media, email newsletters and at events
- Paper copy postal invitations also sent to members where the RTPI did not hold a valid email address
Outcomes
- 4,225 RTPI members took part in the membership survey during a month of fieldwork – an 18% response rate – providing a robust sample size for analysis
- Survey data analysed by Enventure Research and a comprehensive research report was produced, used by the RTPI to develop their membership package and improve the services they provide
- A summary can be found on the RTPI’s website
Testimonial
