NHS Wakefield CCG Improving Access to Primary Care Consultation

The Project

Enventure Research were commissioned to collate, analyse and report on raw data collected by NHS Wakefield CCG and Healthwatch Wakefield during engagement with Wakefield District residents around proposed changes to improve access to local primary care services.

There were 1,237 responses collected from the paper, online and tablet surveys. Staff from NHS Wakefield CCG and Healthwatch Wakefield also recorded qualitative feedback from discussions they had with people at local events that they attended over the summer.

Research Methods

Enventure Research undertook detailed statistical analysis, including analysis by sub-groups such as sex, age, ethnic background, and disability. All open-end comments and the notes from the face-to-face discussions were coded and themed. Enventure Research produced a comprehensive written report which looked at the results and feedback in-depth, and highlighted key findings from the engagement.

Results and Benefits to the Client

The results from the engagement demonstrated that although the majority of people in the area were happy with the opening hours of their GP practice and appointment times offered, evening and Saturday appointments would be popular if they were provided. There was also widespread support for a nurse led clinical triage service, online appointment booking systems, and siting primary care services in the local A&E departments.
