‘Metal Matters’ Doorstepping Campaign Draws to a Close

Nov 7, 2014

Enventure Research has successful completed the doorstepping campaign commissioned on behalf of Viridor Laing Greater Manchester (VLGM) aimed at promoting the ‘Metal Matters’ recycling communication campaign.  Metal Matters aims to increase metal capture rates in the comingled bins at the kerbside by promoting all metal items that can be recycled.  This was the first Metal Matters campaign which has incorporated a doorstepping element to reinforce the messages of the campaign.
A full time team of six trained Recycling Promoters, including two Team Leaders, visited 16,000 properties in low performing areas in the districts of Trafford, Stockport, Manchester and Rochdale.  The engagement team were tasked with reinforcing the message of the Metal Matters campaign, testing recall of the Metal Matters leaflet, ensuring that residents were aware of all metals that could be recycled, encouraging recycling participation, answering resident queries and providing useful information, and taking requests for new or replacement food waste caddies.

To aid conversation with residents, the team administered a short questionnaire with residents which was designed to act as a conversational script to stimulate discussion and record key information.  The questionnaire was administered via a tablet computer, allowing real-time data analysis, quality control checks and performance checks to be conducted daily.<
In total, 4,075 residents were engaged during the doorstepping campaign and 1,064 placed orders for new or replacement recycling containers.
