Doorstep surveys are an alternative approach to typical face-to-face interviews conducted on street. Also known as ‘doorstepping’, doorstep interviews allow whole neighbourhoods to be targeted as part of a programme of research, with interviewers using local knowledge to decide which areas to target to meet specified targets if quota sampling.
Doorstepping has the added benefit of providing the opportunity to engage with residents whilst on their doorstep. Not only can a questionnaire be administered and useful data collected, but local services can be promoted and respondents can also ask interviewers questions relating to the topic of discussion. Enventure Research has a wealth of experience of conducting doorstepping on the topics of the environment, waste and recycling.
